The
Region
Tamarindo
is a great destination for your fishing vacation. One of the
most popular tourist destinations in the Guanacaste Province on Costa
Rica's NW Pacific coast (see map), Tamarindo offers guests a wide variety
of lodging, dining, tours and some of the prettiest beaches in the
country.
With its own local airport, getting to and from Tamarindo
is quick and easy. Besides all these great benefits, Tamarindo
is home to some of the best sport fishing on earth!
Why Fish In Tamarindo?
Simply
put, we are closest to the fish. Our boats never run more than an hour
(usually only 30-40 minutes) to look for bill fish. Spend your catching
fish, not chasing them!
The waters here are world famous for year 'round sport fishing.
While each year may be slightly different, the catch rate for all our
game fish (Sailfish, Blue, Black and Striped Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna,
Dorado, Wahoo, Roosterfish, Snapper) is fairly consistent all months
of the year. There are no specific seasons here. Click
here for an enlarged map of the Tamarindo area.
Traditionally, April through September are excellent
for Sails, Marlin, Tuna and Dolphin. The seas are calm and it may rain
in the afternoon. Our run
time is very short as the fish can be found close to Tamarindo. October
through December sees the transition from rainy season to dry season
here and we catch a variety of species, including billfish.
December through March are often windy so boats run up to an hour to
the south to get to the good fishing out of the wind. Marlin and large
Yellowfin Tuna are plentiful then, as well as Sailfish and dorado.
