He first came to fish Costa Rica recreationally in 1990, and opened Mar Huron Sportfishing in 1998. He has held his U.S. Coast Guard captains license for 30 years and is IGFA certified. He has been fishing for sport and diving commercially for over 25 years. He named the "Mar Huron" after his first boat he recieved at 12 years of age - a 14 ft dory with a 9.8 Mercury that caused numerous deliquency and tardiness issues for Michael during his school years! Whether your interests are conventional fishing or fly-fishing, you can be rest assured that his experience will make your fishing trip memorable and successful. During the summer months, Michael dives commercially for lobster on Cape Cod, and fishes commercially for bluefin tuna. Mate Kurt Kurt is going into his 4th season with the Mar Huron. Prior to Mar Huron Sportfishing, Kurt worked with our neighbors at Crocodile Bay Lodge. He has an insatiable appetite for catching fish and keeps your fish days enjoyable and full of laughs - ask him to do the Sailfish Dance...it really raises them! During the summer months, Kurt heads up north to Alaska. He and wife Anya recently began a family with the arrival of "Hunter" - could they have picked a better name?! Like father, like son... Domestic Staff - Cristina We lucked out in early 2006 when Cristina left Parrot Bay Village, after 7 years of employment. During the period that Lyra was managing Parrot Bay, she and Cristina worked together, and both are thrilled to be working together again. Cristina is responsible for every aspect of running the house both during the busy and slow seasons. She lives in one the houses we recently purchased next door to the Fishack and prepares breakfasts, does the daily house cleaning and laundry, gardening and whatever else is required to keep you comfortable. She takes very good care of all of us! Cristina is a Puerto Jimenez local, mother of 3 and grandmother of 4.       Picture coming soon!! Lyra is in charge of all administrative aspects of Mar Huron Sportfishing, as well as the co-ordination and monitoring of our guests itineraries to ensure the smoothest possible vacation imagineable. Lyra is basically on call 24/7 during your trip and can make just about anything happen!
